MIPS 2023: The Cost Category

Understanding the MIPS Cost Category in 2023

There are minimal changes to the Cost Category for the 2023 Performance Year. Cost still represents 30% of your total MIPS Score, and your Cost measure performance will continue to be calculated using your administrative claims (meaning you won’t need to submit anything for Cost).

Improvement Scoring

For 2023, CMS has introduced a 1% improvement score available for MIPS participants who have improved their scoring in the Cost Category from one Performance Year to the next.
