COVID-19 and MIPS Reporting Requirements

During these unpredictable times, we want to give you a brief update on the MIPS program and how Mingle Health will continue to be a quality program partner with your organization.
In response to the COVID-19 emergency, CMS has extended the 2019 MIPS reporting deadline to April 30, 2020. In addition, any MIPS eligible practice or provider who has not submitted MIPS data to CMS by April 30 will automatically qualify for the extreme and uncontrollable circumstance policy and receive a neutral payment adjustment for 2021.
Healthcare is in uncharted territory here, but Mingle Health is committed to remaining in this with you. Our subject matter experts are in regular communication with CMS and our consultants will continue to advocate for answers to your questions, so keep reaching out as new situations in your practice arise.
Here are some points to discuss with your Mingle Health consultant when evaluating your organization’s best course of action:
- If you can finish a 2019 submission above the 30-point threshold, we recommend you do so. CMS has not yet determined how final incentives may be impacted by this change, but these details will continue to be made available as they evolve.
- If your practice has been submitting claims codes of any kind for 2019, you have been submitting data to CMS and it may be in your best interest to complete a full submission in order to avoid a penalty.
- If your practice is on the front lines of the COVID-19 struggle, and you simply cannot commit any further time and energy to your 2019 submission, please let your consultant know. We can absolutely help you make the choice to not submit this year so you can focus on patient care during this critical time.
- CMS has not announced any changes to the 2020 reporting year requirements for MIPS. Our team and tools are ready to support you as soon as you’re ready to get started analyzing your 2020 data.

March 17, 2020 – The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have warned communities across the United States to expect community spread of the novel coronavirus (which causes the illness known as COVID-19). Experts recommend social distancing and limiting group gatherings as much as possible.
Despite this challenging time, Mingle Health is operating at full capacity. Like always, we are committed to meeting the needs of our customers and partners. We understand how important that is leading up to the MIPS/QPP submission deadline of March 31, 2020, now extended to April 30.
We are honored and grateful to be working with our customers and partners, including many of you who are directly involved in prevention and treatment efforts for COVID-19. Our commitment is to do everything we can to finish the MIPS/QPP submission season smoothly so you can focus on what matters most in tis chaotic time.
