Under MIPS, payments to providers are still based on the Medicare Part B Physician Fee Schedule (PFS), but those payments can be adjusted either up or down depending on their score in four performance categories: Quality, Resource Use, Clinical Practice Improvement Activities (CPIA), and Advancing Care Information (ACI).
